Position Summary

At Xylem we help customers solve the world's greatest water challenges with innovative products, services, and solutions.  Our Signal Hill California team is searching for a technically skilled, well qualified individual for a Senior Field Service Technician position to support our light industrial and medical customers.  This position reports into the Signal Hill, CA. branch.  This position will cover installation, service, and maintenance of water treatment equipment in Southern California.  Individuals with experience working in HVAC repair, mechanics, facilities maintenance, plumbing, electrical, boiler, chiller, equipment repair, etc. are often successful.

Core Responsibilities and Tasks

The Field Service Technician will be responsible for the installation, service, and maintenance of our water purification equipment, utilizing a company service vehicle and tools, within our Light Industries Division.  Equipment specific training will be provided. This position has general day shift hours with overtime opportunities, which can include occasional evenings and weekend work. Technician will be required to participate in a compensated on-call rotation.   

 

 

  • Actively participates and engages in our safety program and culture.
  • Technician will interface directly with customers providing a best-in-class customer service experience.
  • Performs Intermediate troubleshooting, repairs and maintenance of Xylem and customer owned equipment, systems, and components.
  • Perform scheduled routed PM services, instrument calibration and optimizes system performance at customer locations.
  • Technician will complete service reports documenting service activity and collect system operating data.
  • Safely operate a company owned service vehicle.
  • Maintain and care for Xylem assets including parts inventory, tools, test equipment, company vehicle, PPE, etc...
  • Administrative duties using multiple applications platforms and technology equipment (tablet, smartphone, related software). This includes but is not limited to daily completions of service reports and activities while on customer site, entering time for payroll, completing online safety and technical training.
  • Mentor / Coach others to create company culture and lead by example.

 

Position Requirements

 

  • HS diploma or equivalent.
  • Able to pass medical card and driving record requirements to operate a company vehicle.
  • Able to pass background check & pre-employment drug screen.
 

Knowledge and Experience

 

•      2-5 years technical experience including industrial or commercial process water experience preferred.

 

•      Demonstrates critical thinking and troubleshooting ability.

•      Must be able to function in a team environment.

•      Must be flexible to accommodate changing customer needs.

•      Be able to work independently with minimal supervision.

•      Wastewater endorsements desirable.

 

Travel Requirement 50%
