Position Summary

The Electrical Controls Engineer will design automated control systems and power distribution systems. This includes electrical design and programming of control panels and power distribution panels for water treatment skids.  The Engineer will have a strong troubleshooting background for water treatment facilities and systems contained in skids, buildings, and containers. The engineer will have a strong familiarity with panel manufacturing and electrical design regulations.  Provides site integration Engineering services as required for projects assigned along with implementation of electrical selection to meet NEC, UL, NFPA, CSA and CE requirement as necessary per project specifications.

 Travel is limited as most site support is via web meetings with on-site Field Service Engineers. Remote troubleshooting is a must.

Core Responsibilities and Tasks

  • Applies knowledge of NEC, UL, NFPA, CSA, and CE standards to the design of Distribution & Control Panels *Emphasis on coordination, fault studies, harmonic studies, and arc flash analysis *Ability to train co-workers on code design considerations and requirements

  • Integrate product solutions (mechanical/electrical/software/hardware) to customer specified applications specific to Disinfection Product Portfolio (Gas Feed, Ozone, UV, Onsite Electrocatalytic Chlorination (OSEC), Analyzers, Mixers).

  • Configures automation networks, including Ethernet/IP, ControlNet, Profibus, Profinet and Modbus

  • Writes PLC and HMI programs for systems utilizing Rockwell / Allen Bradley(preferred) and Siemens products

  • Conducts Factory Acceptance Testing and configuration of control and automation systems

  • Troubleshoots equipment operation issues which may be related to electrical design or programming

  • Suggests and implements solutions that support application of electrical services / product / layouts / estimation.

  • Writes operating descriptions and related documentation for control and automation portion of systems

  • Configures solution based on customer specifications and requirements. 

  • Commits to deliverables with customers and/or mgmt

  • Develops strategy of execution of work.

  • Team lead & mentors engineers.

  • Able to evaluate risk & minimize business impact. - And May conduct and supervise experimental investigations of new materials.

  • Effectively presents and explains engineering concepts both orally and in writing.


Position Requirements

•     BS/BA degree in Eng; Master's degree preferred.
•    8-15 yrs. of experience, Commensurate experience in the water disinfection industry


  • 5+ years Products experience in the water purification or construction industries preferred specific to Electrochlorination.
  • Water purification system startup experience is a plus but not required.
  • Programming or Manufacturing through Installation/Troubleshooting and Development for AB/Siemens
  • CAD proficiency on both AutoCAD, INVENTOR or Solidworks
  • Familiarity with SAP Business Operating System is preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, Visio and MS Project Software
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills.

Compensation- $95K-$120K plus Annual Incentive
