Position Summary for the Technical Sales Representative

Business background:

Magneto Special Anodes as part of the Evoqua group is a global leader in the design, manufacturing and supply of high-quality titanium-based electrodes with active precious metal coatings. Today our anodes are in operation in a wide range of applications in the electrochemical industry, across a number of key markets and applications such as the Metal Plating and Surface Finishing Industry, Electrowinning and Recovery, Cathodic Protection and Water Treatment & Electrolysis for Hydrogen Generation within the Renewable Energy sector.

This position is for a Technical Sales Representative for our North American Magneto Special Anode sales group. The successful candidate will be selling our products and acts as main point of contact to our customers, pre- and post-sale, focusing on ongoing customer satisfaction, retention and on growing business year over year. The role is responsible to maintain relationships with the customer accounts within the assigned territory, industry and product segment and engages with customers in a variety of mediums including face-to-face meetings, responds to inquiries and offers recommendations and appropriate products. Advances opportunities through the sales stages in CRM along with being accountable for consistent data used for forecasting and SIOP. Must work with a sense of urgency to execute sales strategy, generate sales reports and identify opportunities to increase sales volume while ensuring service levels are met.

The ideal candidate is a self-starter with customer-centric personality, strong communication skills, MS Office proficiency especially Excel and CRM, and consultative technical selling capabilities.

Core Responsibilities and Tasks for the Technical Sales Representative

  • Develops strong working relationships with customers in assigned markets
  • Main contact for both new and existing customers to secure new and recurring business
  • Determine prospect's value needs for the use of insoluble anodes in the customer’s application
  • Match Magneto's capabilities in anode and coating design to achieve value addition to prospect's operations
  • Work with Magneto engineers to facilitate the design of anodes and solutions to meet prospect's requirements
  • Present design and value proposition to the prospects and customers
  • Provide quotations to prospects and customers
  • Secure orders for anodes from prospects and customers
  • Identifies new prospects through cold calling, trade shows, market networking, webinars
  • Manages small team consisting of 1 sales rep and 1 internal sales support
  • Documents and manages activities and efforts through in-depth use of CRM system, ERP system, and quoting system
  • Provide data and reports to assist in advancing strategic goals of the division
  • Achieve sales goals, margin goals, and assigned objectives
  • Assure highest quality product and service to maintain customer satisfaction

 

 

 


 

Position Requirements for the Technical Sales Representative

EDUCATION:  

Required:
BS in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering (with strong chemical underpinnings), or Chemistry (with strong mechanical capabilities)


Preferred:
MBA

 
KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE:
Required:

  • Self-starter capable of working well with others with minimal supervision
  • 4 – 7 years of experience in sales techniques and basic understanding of company offerings or vertical market / application
  • Comprehensive knowledge and demonstrated ability to engage in collaborative and technical selling
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel; proficiency in use of CRM system, preferably Microsoft Dynamics 365
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally


Preferred:

  • Familiarity with specialty electrode applications in relevant markets such as Metal Plating and Surface Finishing, Electrowinning and Recovery, Cathodic Protection and Water Treatment & Electrolysis for Hydrogen Generation within the Renewable Energy sector
  • Experience in selling specialty components / fabrications and / or specialty products in relevant vertical markets

Additional Details for the Technical Sales Representative

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Approximately 40% travel is expected in order to call on potential new and existing customers.
  • This position can be remote and based anywhere in the US when not traveling.
