Position Summary for the Construction Manager

The Construction Manager oversees all phases of the project on site and acts on behalf of the Owner for day-to-day decision making and problem solving in collaboration with the Project Manager. This position has a dedicated presence at the job site ensuring the work is performed safely and according to the schedule and quality demands of the project. They are also able to communicate live developments to the Project Manager to mitigate issues and maintain agility in the response to change.

Core Responsibilities and Tasks for the Construction Manager

• Oversees construction sites, general contractors, and workers to ensure a high level of quality and safety.
• Guarantees that all work is performed in accordance with approved manuals and procedures
• Ensures that project is constructed and documented in accordance with the contract documents and good engineering practices.
• Provides technical support to Project Managers
• Performs change order estimating and assists the Project Manager in change order negotiations
• Coordinates and monitors schedule updates, invoices, and submittals
• Assists in managing and reviewing the progress of contractor's construction schedules.
• Reviews weekly and monthly reports on the status and progress of the contracts, including project costs and potential changes
• Reports the status of projects to business and market leaders
• Attend client meetings as needed                                           
• Lead interface with local onsite Customer if/when Project Manager is not present.

Position Requirements for the Construction Manager


  • BS in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or other related discipline with 5 years of experience or 10 years of work experience in lieu of degree
  • 10+ years of project experience working in the construction industry required


  • Experience with large manufacturing facilities & construction sites.


  • Proficient with MS Office suite of tools
  • Knowledge of construction technology
  • EPC industry experience
  • Familiarity with project and department budget process and tools
  • Risk assessment/management
  • Leadership ability
  • Must be able to multitask.
  • Effective communication, and presentation skills                 
  • Ability to read, understand, and direct work based on engineering drawings, schematics and construction documents
