Position Summary


The Technology and Innovation (T&I) group at Evoqua Water Technologies is looking for an Engineer III to assist in the research and development of water treatment and purification devices for out location in Tewksbury, MA.  In this role, you will work closely with team members in Holland, MI and Warwick, RI as well as our Engineering Support team in Chennai India leading development projects supporting growth in our filtration portfolio with a focus on our Aquatics product family.  This is an exciting opportunity to help drive innovation, sustainability, and water quality to benefit our customers and the planet.

Core Responsibilities and Tasks


The ideal candidate will be a self-starter who has experience developing, testing, and improving water treatment products.  The candidate should also have a solid background of project management, business principles, and risk mitigation is also desirable.  This position will report to the director of T&I in Tewksbury, MA and as part of the team you will work with mechanical engineers, chemical engineers, lab technicians and also interface with other areas within the organization, including business development, product management, sales, and intellectual property. Occasional travel may be required.  Expect to work in a cross functional team to develop new products, test and improve existing products, and evaluate alternate and competitive technologies. 


  • Support development of Filtration Devices (specifically focused on the Aquatics market)
  • Develop test plans, drive testing execution, analyze results, and document  
  • Interpret project technical specifications and participate in product design, development, testing, and qualification
  • Manage projects including timelines and budgets and direct resources to meet commitments 
  • Support sales and field application questions and challenges 
  • Participate in developing project handover packages and product documentation
  • Conduct Kaizen product reviews for product improvements and cost savings 
  • Oversee operation of internal test stands, troubleshoot product and process issues, optimize test system.  Coordinate resources required to execute in-house product and process testing plans
  • Assess quality of mechanical filter assemblies and electrical control panels 

Position Requirements


  • Understand water treatment technologies and products (or aquatics filtration experience)
  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Chemical, Civil, or Environmental Engineering (or equivalent)
  • Demonstrated problem solving skills
  • Demonstrated indirect or direct management of a multi-disciplined, remote engineering team
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills
  • 5+ years of work experience is preferred
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office tools is expected
  • Experience using ERP systems (SAP knowledge a plus)
  • Ability to work with process controls and modify PLC programs is a plus
  • Travel Requirements 10%
