Position Summary
Engineer assigned to a “project team” that works with Project Manager and other engineering resources to ensure all engineering and design tasks are completed on time and on budget. Responsible for execution of project design work including equipment selection, scope resolution, coordination of equipment calculations, technical support, etc. The ideal candidate is willing to learn, takes initiative in improving our engineering processes, and enjoys being part of and helping create a world-class team.

Core Responsibilities and Tasks
Responsible for execution and technical leadership of project design and engineering work including mechanical design, structural design, pump systems, piping, and tanks/vessels. Works with Project Manager to ensure all engineering and design tasks are completed on time and on budget.
• Ensures engineering and design tasks are completed on time and on budget while upholding the highest quality along with meeting Customer technical requirements.
• Performs calculations associated with numerous engineering related topics including but not limited to: machine design, structural design, welding, material selection, ASME Section VIII Div 1 pressure vessels, ASME Section IV Boilers\Heaters, steel tank design based on the API-650\AWWA D100 requirements, lifting analysis.
• Selects and sizes structural steel components and materials based on AISC requirements
• Communicates with the Technical Sales Engineer, Project Manager, design engineer and manufacturing engineer on technical decisions and project deliverables
• Employs principals of designing for manufacturability (DFMA)
• Interfaces with Manufacturing and external suppliers for component selection, manufacturing, and assembly
• Supports the Sales & Marketing department by creating drawings for use in proposals to customers
• Utilizes SAP for part creation and bill of material (BOM) creation
• Utilize Autodesk Inventor to develop system designs and in some instances fabrication details
• May be required to perform some FEA studies
Position Requirements
FORMAL EDUCATION:
• Minimum 4 years experience in mechanical project engineering position
• BS in Engineering (Mechanical preferred)
KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE:
• Ability to perform engineering calculations: structural, mechanical, hydraulic
• Knowledge of piping systems (pumps, valves, pressure tanks, boilers)
• Knowledge of mechanical design standards (ASME, API, AWWA, ASTM, AISC, etc)
• Experience with engineered to order projects
• Experience with ASME vessel and tank design to industry standards (API 650, AWWA) a plus
• Experience with AISC steel structure design
• Knowledge of Codeware Compress (ASME) and AMETank (API-650) design software a plus.
• Able to execute tasks autonomously; limited guidance required for complex tasks
