This is an exciting opportunity for you to use your mechanical and electrical expertise as you  travel domestically to troubleshoot and repair client wastewater systems!

 

In this role you will travel to various client sites throughout the US, and eventually internationally,  to troubleshoot, repair, applyand suggest preventative maintenance and instruct on the safe usage of equipment.   This is an hourly, mid-level role for an experienced Field Service Technician.

 

You will also provide diagnoses and engineering support on a diverse assortment of controls across all product lines, technical support/advisement to Evoqua (internal and external) customers, technical workers and contractors, to gain customer acceptance of Evoqua supplied equipment.

This opportunity requires overnight travel approximately 80% to 100% of workweek and for consecutive week(s) at a time to domestic, and  eventually international job sites, which also may involve weekends.

 

Job Description:

  • Supports (external and internal) customers using sound scientific methods within and across varied disciplines through telephone, data connection and on-site assistance to solve issues that may include:
    • Mechanical issues (Pneumatic, hydraulic, structural, etc.)
    • Electrical issues (hardware, software, electromechanical relay logic and motor control)
    • Process issues
    • Quality issues
    • Operational issues
    • Any combination of the above
  • Performs complex troubleshooting of electrical, gas, hydraulic, systems and equipment operation. Includes diagnosis, problem identification of repairs required and repair and preventative maintenance work on equipment.
  • Requires the use of skills in relay logic, electronics, programmable logic controllers, electro-mechanical, gas, hydraulic, and mechanical troubleshooting. Requires training in the debugging/modifying of PLC controls. Would require specialized training such that:
  • Would understand all implications behind changes made and use forward thinking to provide sound solutions.
  • Would be aware of required safety design elements and how added/edited elements fit within the overall safely scheme.
  • Edit for site-specific communication needs.
     
  • Must have excellent computer skills, capable of working with a variety of applications: Will regularly use MS Office, web based travel reservation and expense applications, PLC programming for major suppliers such as, but not limited to, Siemens, GE, Allen-Bradley, and Modicon.
  • Performs complex and specialized corrective and preventative maintenance work on equipment, capable of conducting complex problem solving judging for site particulars.
  • May be asked to service all Engineered Products product lines or new technologies when they are used and based on workload may be asked to work in other functional areas such as engineering and/or manufacturing support.
  • Works with project management and direct manager to offer alternatives to irresolvable situations to customers.
  • Manage any required remedial work within the best interest of Evoqua.
  • On occasion may be involved with handling warranty claims, working hand-in-hand with the customer on RMA’s, receives and orders for replacement parts.
  • Promotes service contracts. Schedules time, date, and organizes specific parts to fulfill arranged service contract.
  • Capabilities must include the ability to interpret entries and contractual limitations based on contract specifications and agreements, support essential project scope boundaries, and tactfully convey these to the customer if needed.
  • Responsible for obtaining final customer acceptance of equipment while on site.

 

Requirements:

  • Travels overnight approximately 80% to 100% of workweek and for consecutive week(s) at a time to domestic and international job sites, which also may involve weekends.
  •  A minimum of five years of proven experience and knowledge in electrical, PLC and mechanical rotating equipment required, along with a strong mechanical aptitude. Some chemical engineering background preferred in the filtration field.
  • Ability to read and understand civil, mechanical and electrical drawings, as well as having basic knowledge of typical site construction and equipment manufacturing.
  • Ability to obtain an U.S. passport.
  • Ability to obtain a Evoqua credit card (based on personal credit).
  • Ability to consistently perform in excess of a 40-hour week doing whatever it takes to "get the job done."
  • Must be willing and able to travel to both domestic and international job sites.
  • Ability to gain access into Plants and pass entrance testing requirements including, but not limited to, criminal background checks, drug/alcohol tests, psychological  tests,  and safety tests
  • Works with manager to inform engineering department of suggested product development revisions. 
  • Employee must be self directed, exercise good judgment daily to complete tasks and capable of making independent decisions. Must possess a strong sense of urgency in a "job shop" environment with the ability to handle multiple priority projects at one time. The capability to foresee and solve issues (products, people, and systems) before they become problems out of control is vital.
  • Must have proven ability to work effectively and professionally with customers. Must use sound methodology to analyze issues and be capable of using written and verbal communications to convey specifics to internal and external customers.
  • Performs onsite process testing at customer sites. This often requires interaction with customer’s systems, third party vendors (such as chemical/polymer suppliers) to obtain a common goal
  • Provide written communications and schedules to the customer, leading to and including start-up signoff.
  • Must wear all required safety PPE, safety glasses with side shields and shoes at a minimum.
  • Ability to demonstrate safe work behavior. May work at a hazardous site, may have to demonstrate use of safety equipment at site. Support Evoqua safety programs including Job Self Assessments (JSA) and related checks.
  • Evoqua specified Testing and Training might be required as necessary including, but not limited to:
  • Bloodborne pathogen training and Hepatitis A and B vaccinations, or a signed declination form.
  • Immunizations as required by job site locations.
  • Heavy Metal Blood screens every 6 months.
  • Respirator training and annual Pulmonary Function Test (PFT).
  • Required to pass a 30-hour health and safety training, at the company's expense.
  • Additional testing can be required at customer request including, but not limited to, drug screening, medical testing for special work conditions, and safety tests
