The Business Developer (BD) drives business growth by establishing new customer relationships and maintaining and increasing the value of existing relationships to ensure customer satisfaction and retention.   The BD works closely with the regional sales team and channel partners to pursue sales opportunities. The BD works with the Product Management team to contribute to sales and marketing plans, product development and overall company growth.  




  • Achieve assigned sales goals
  • Maintain technical and market expertise in assigned technology and/or market area including participation in industry groups, continuing education, and other activities as necessary to maintain recognized expert status in the market
  • Develop the pipeline of new business. This requires a thorough knowledge of the marketplace, product offering and of competitors
  • Direct strategy for development of new accounts through understanding the needs of the market, customer base and corporate requirements
  • Execute tactics to support overall region and company strategies/goals by identifying potential sales opportunities within the market
  • Responsible for developing presentations and presenting the company technologies and value proposition to individual customers and industry groups
  • Develop and maintain key relationships to generate new leads and create more sales
  • Schedule appointments, prepare and deliver presentations to the client, having researched their business and requirements
  • Execute and guide sales follow-up activities
  • Maintain and manage project opportunity information in CRM
  • Maintain customer relationships and ensure customer loyalty through excellent customer service
  • Work cross functionally with internal resources to bring viable solutions for customer needs
  • Responsible to lead the technical solution development following adequate discovery. Assist budgetary proposal and pricing for project in collaboration with AEs/TSEs.  Develop a competitive strategy
  • Build a plan for customer visits, upcoming bids, pipeline, bookings against target
  • Report monthly to the Business Development Manager for all sales metrics, including the strategic actions, Sales KPI’s, and Customer visits report
  • Work with the Product Management team to contribute to sales and marketing plans and product development




  • An engineering degree in Environmental, Chemical or Mechanical Engineering or related field is preferred
  • Experienced in the water or wastewater treatment industry
  • Capable of maintaining the necessary focus, associated with a long sales cycle
  • A proven track record in strong presentation skills is essential
  • Experience maintaining a client records in a CRM database
  • Strong research and strategic analysis skills
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Ability to organize and orchestrate virtual meetings through Microsoft Teams or webinars
  • Skilled at closing deals with clients
  • Excellent organizational skills are essential
  • Must be able to operate Microsoft Office and associated programs
  • Must be willing to travel at least 50%
  • Ability to multi-task and work in a fast pace and team-oriented environment
