Position Summary

Engineer assigned to a “project team” that works with Project Manager and other engineering resources to ensure all engineering and design tasks are completed on time and on budget. Responsible for execution of project design work including equipment selection, scope resolution, coordination of equipment calculations, technical support, etc. The ideal candidate is willing to learn, takes initiative in improving our engineering processes, and enjoys being part of and helping create a world-class team.

Core Responsibilities and Tasks

Responsible for execution and technical leadership of project design and engineering work including process design, pump systems, piping, tanks, instrumentation and controls.  Works with Project Manager to insure all engineering and design tasks are completed on time and on budget.

  • Provide equipment designer with technical guidance for preparation of general arrangement and detail drawings.
  • Define component sizing, materials of construction
  • Develops hydraulic design, equipment/plant layouts, process flow diagrams, process & instrumentation diagrams and functional descriptions (if required)
  • Performs calculations associated with numerous engineering related topics including: sizing pumps / blowers, piping / valves, pressure vessels, burners and instrumentation / controls based on the requirements of each project.
  • Assists with coordination of clarifications and exception communication.
  • Supports Project Manager in project execution
  • Provide engineering support during project execution including customer interface during installation and start-up when necessary.
  • Supports Sales & Marketing in the bidding process (for solutions) where applicable
  • Learns and utilizes ERP platform for part creation and bill of material (BOM) creation for release to supply chain

Position Requirements

FORMAL EDUCATION: 
Required:
•     BS/BA degree in Eng
•    2-5 yrs. of experience

KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE:

  • Experience with engineered to order projects
  • Ability to perform engineering calculations: structural, mechanical, hydraulic and process
  • Knowledge of piping systems (pumps, valves, pressure tanks, boilers)
  • Knowledge of structural support platforms
  • Knowledge of controls and instrumentation
  • Knowledge of biological treatment process(s)
  • Able to execute tasks autonomously; limited guidance required for complex tasks
  • Understanding of business acumen
  • Effective communication skills

Physical Requirements

  •   Must be able to sit, stand, hear, and see on a constant basis.
  •   Must be able to walk, write, and type on a frequent basis. 
  •   Must be able to climb and descend stairs. 
  •   Must be able to bend, carry, reach, push, and pull on an occasional basis.
  •   Must be able to communicate verbally and in writing. 
  •   May work in areas where noise level is such that hearing protection is required. 
  •   May be exposed to varying amounts of dust and dirt. 
  •   Work surfaces may include concrete. 
  •   Employee must be able to operate a computer and communicate via telephone. 
  •   Some travel to other locations, meetings and/or seminars is required.
